A smooth ride: S.A.C. to host “Road to Nashville” seminar/webinar

The Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.) is presenting a seminar/webinar on June 7, 2012, at the National Film Board of Canada Theatre, called "The Road to Nashville: Strategies for Songwriters Heading to Music City." The panel will be hosted by Doug Romanow and SOCAN's Nashville representative, Eddie Schwartz.
The event is offered both live and online. Those in Toronto can come in person and have a networking opportunity with the panelists. Songwriters living across Canada who can't come out in person can tune in online and participate in via an online chatroom.
The engaging session will arm songwriters and composers with the tools and information needed when planning a trip to Nashville. Topics discussed will include:
• Visa requirements
• How and when to approach a publisher
• Choosing the right places to showcase
• Recording demos in Nashville
• Arranging accommodations through SOCAN
• Avoiding common scams targeted at songwriters
You will gain valuable insight from Canadians who are intricately connected to the Nashville scene. Set to start at 6:00 p.m., the event is free for S.A.C. members and is $5 for non-members. Networking and showcasing opportunities will also be available for live attendees at the panel, as will refreshments and light snacks.
