SOCAN to hold info session at Battle of the Beatmakers launch event

November 7, 2017

SOCAN Director, A&R, Rodney Murphy will present a “Getting Paid When Your Music is Played” session to kick off the private launch event for the 2017 Battle of the Beatmakers competition, co-sponsored by SOCAN, in downtown Toronto.

The launch, on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, will include a presentation by Nielsen Soundscan on tracking your music globally, and culminate in a keynote speech and Q&A with sound engineer Kesha Lee, who’s worked with Migos, Future, Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti.

On Friday, Nov. 10, the Preliminaries of the competition will be held at the Daniels Spectrum, as 64 beat-making producers do battle for a three-judge panel of Lee, Grammy Award-winning producer T-Minus, and his renowned fellow producer Heatmakerz. Tickets are $20 CDN, available here.

The following night, the final 32 producers vie for the title in The Main Event, at The Opera House, with the same judges. Tickets are $25 CDN, available here. All three events are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
