SOCAN was pleased to honour the co- writers of Carly Rae Jepsen's huge hit song "Call Me Maybe"  with a No. 1 Song Award for reaching the top spots on Billboard’s Canadian Hot 100 Chart on Feb. 1, 2012; the MuchMusic Countdown Chart on  Mar. 16, 2012; and Nielsen’s BDS AC Chart on Apr. 9, 2012. (The song has since topped Billboard's U.S. Hot 100 chart for three weeks straight.)

SOCAN's Michelle Dubuc presented the No. 1 Award plaques to co-writers Jepsen, Tavish Crowe (who plays guitar in Jepsen's band), and Josh Ramsay (frontman for Marianas Trench), who also produced the song.

At the same time, Ramsay received two other SOCAN No. 1 Song Awards, for his songs “Hit Me Up” scaling the peak of the MuchMusic Countdown chart on Feb. 17, 2012, and “Haven’t Had Enough” reaching the top of the same chart on Dec. 9, 2011.

The presentation was held on July 6, 2012, a blazing hot day in Vancouver, backstage at the Summer Playland Festival inside the Pacific National Exhibition, where both Jepsen and Marianas Trench were playing. All of the writers were thankful and appreciative of the recognition. After the presentation, the trio went off to ride the rollercoasters at Playland.
