SOCAN honours "Shut Up and Dance" writers with No. 1 Song Award

SOCAN was pleased to honour the co- writers of "Shut Up and Dance" with a No. 1 Song Award for reaching the top spot on the MuchMusic Coundown the week of Jan. 20, 2012.

SOCAN board member Craig Horton presented the No. 1 Award plaques to co-writers Victoria Duffield and Ryan Stewart, and accepted a trophy himself as a representative of the publisher Nettwerk One, which works with Stewart. The song is also co-published by Ardias Music Publishing.

The presentation was held at the Rogue Kitchen and Wet Bar in Vancouver on Feb. 27, 2012. Duffield and Stewart each brought family members and business colleagues to the celebration. Both SOCAN members were very excited to be honoured for their achievement. SOCAN's Sara Pavilionis, April Lebedoff and Lynn Ross also attended the event.
