SOCAN members receive discount on entries for 2017 Canadian Songwriting Competition

SOCAN members and other Canadian songwriters are invited to enter the second annual Canadian Songwriting Competition (CSC). The competition launched Oct. 1, 2017, with discounted early bird pricing (which ends Nov. 14, 2017). This year’s competition will be bigger and better, with a new cash grand prize of $10,000 CDN, and more than $40,000 CDN total in prizes to be won.

Judges include Joel Plaskett, Sam Roberts, Alan Doyle, Cadence Weapon, and industry tastemakers in A&R, radio, festival programming, music publishing, and more. The CSC is also thrilled to partner with SickKids Foundation to help raise funds for in-hospital music programming.

SOCAN members are eligible for a special discount on entry fees. To receive the discount code for SOCAN members, e-mail, for $5 CDN off of each entry, in addition to the early bird discount. If applying after the early bird deadline, members still get $5 CDN off the full price of each entry.

The Grand Prize includes a round-trip flight to anywhere in Canada and the continental U.S.; a week’s accommodation at the SOCAN House in either Nashville or Los Angeles, and an invitation to a SOCAN song camp; a Noize Faktory prize pack to record, mix, master, and package a three-song EP; a consultation session with music publisher Peermusic Inc.; a photo shoot with Jen Squires Photography.
