SOCAN presents No. 1 Song Award to Hannah Georgas for “Don’t Go”

SOCAN presented a No. 1 Song Award to Hannah Georgas and publisher peermusic Canada Inc. in recognition of Georgas’ song “Don’t Go" – co-written by Ryan Guldemond (of Mother Mother) – reaching No. 1 on the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 on May 20, 2016. “Don’t Go" is co-published by Universal Music Publishing Canada.

SOCAN A&R Executive Guillaume Moffet presented Georgas and peermusic Canada’s Cheryl Link with the award on Dec. 7, 2016, backstage at The Mod Club in downtown Toronto before her performance. After the presentation, the participants enjoyed a dinner in Georgas’ honour at Il Gatto Nero restaurant, right across from the nightclub.

The gathering of Georgas and her team encompassed almost all facets of the Canadian music ecosystem, with representatives from the fields of music publishing, artist management, artist booking, concert promotion, and the record industry. Attendees included Cheryl Link of publisher peermusic Canada; Michael Schipper and Claire Rosenbaum, both of Eggplant Entertainment; Dan Hawie and Ryan Spalding, both of Dine Alone Records; Jack Ross and Olivia Karschti, both of booking agency UTA; and Cody McGraw and Denise Ross, both of concert promoter Live Nation.

SOCAN A&R Department attendees included Executive Guillaume Moffet, Administrator Melissa Cameron, and Co-ordinator Andreas Rizek.
