SOCAN presents session at Kingston Canadian Film Festival

February 21, 2014

SOCAN will present a Music in Film session at the 14th annual Kingston Canadian Film Festival, to be held from Feb. 27 to Mar. 2, 2014, in Kingston, ON.

The workshop, moderated by SOCAN’s Paul Stillo, will feature film composer and SOCAN member Andrew Lockington and director Richie Mehta discussing their work together on the movie Siddharth, composing music for films, and the industry in general. The event is scheduled for Feb. 28, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in The Davies Lounge of The Grand Theatre. Following the workshop, participants can attend a screening of Siddharth, at 7:30 p.m. in the room adjacent to the Davies Lounge, The Baby Grand.

SOCAN’s Stillo and Jason Belo will also participate in a workshop entitled Breaking In: Starting a Career in Film & Media, slated for 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. the same day in Gordon Hall at Queen’s University. The event offers advice to help film industry novices learn how to start out and get their foot in the door. It’s also an opportunity for them to connect with directors, producers, actors, editors, programmers and more. The session is structured to allow for informal one-on-one and group conversations, to help provide the information that attendees need the most.

These events are open to all ages, and admission is free. To guarantee entry, RSVP to victoria@kingcanfilmfest.com. Walk-ups are welcome, pending capacity. For more information visit the Kingston Canadian Film Festival website.
