SOCAN presents three No. 1 Song Awards to Serena Ryder

SOCAN presented three No. 1 Song Awards to Serena Ryder, for co-writing two of her own chart-topping hits, “Got Your Number” and “Electric Love,” as well as Ria Mae’s equally successful “Bend.” All three songs reached the summit of the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 chart.

“Got Your Number,” written by Ryder, Todd Clark, and Derek Fuhrmann (ASCAP), and published by Universal Music Publishing Canada, Egg Songs/Downtown Music, and AE Fuhrmann Publishing, topped the chart on July 15, 2016.

“Electric Love,” written by Ryder, Thomas "Tawgs" Salter, and Mike Wise, and published by Universal Music Publishing Canada and Sony/ATV Music Publishing Canada, reached the peak of the chart on May 18, 2017.

“Bend,” performed by Ria Mae, written by Ryder, Mae, and Joel Stouffer, and published by Universal Music Publishing Canada, Nettwerk Music Group Publishing, and Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd. Canada, topped the chart on July 13, 2017. Mae and Stouffer received their own SOCAN No. 1 Song Awards for “Bend” in July of 2017.

SOCAN CEO Eric Baptiste presented the award on Aug. 10, 2017, during a celebratory dinner at Böehmer on the Ossington Street strip in downtown Toronto. Also attending were Adam Fujiki of Universal Music Publishing Canada; Sandy Pandya and Michael Gorman of Pandyamonium Management; and Michael McCarty, Rodney Murphy, and Melissa Cameron of SOCAN.
