SOCAN was pleased to present SOCAN No. 1 Song Awards to both Gord Bamford and Brett Kissel, for their chart-topping hit songs, during Canadian Country Music Week 2014 in Edmonton.

SOCAN President, Stan Meissner presented a No. 1 Song Award to Gord Bamford, and to the song’s publishers, Ole’s Robert Ott and Gilles Godard, for the song “When Your Lips Are So Close,” which topped the Neilsen BDS Country Chart on Nov. 18, 2013. Bamford co-wrote the song with Brent Baxter and Byron Hill (both ASCAP), and it’s co-published by Pretty Paisley Publishing.  The celebration took place Sept. 5 at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

The honour recognized his chart-topper, “3-2-1” for climbing to number one on the CMT Countdown Chart on June 7, 2014. Kissel co-wrote the song with Marvin Green and Timothy Nichols (both BMI), and it’s co-published by Bouncy Bear Music.

Bamford and Kissel gladly accepted their awards and were appreciative of the recognition from SOCAN. We congratulate them both on their continuing success!
