SOCAN recognizes Mother Mother with No. 1 Song Award
SOCAN recognized Mother Mother – Ryan Guldemond, Ali Siadat, Jasmin Parkin, Molly Guldemond, and Mike Young – with a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award, on March 30, 2017. SOCAN’s Coralie Hummel and Sara Pavilionis presented the award backstage at the last of five sold-out performances at The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, ending a tour of Canada that also included the group’s first headlining performance at Toronto’s Massey Hall.
SOCAN acknowledged the band for their song “The Drugs,” which topped the Nielsen BDS Modern Rock chart for three weeks, starting on Feb. 6, 2017. In addition to Mother Mother members Ryan Guldemond and Ali Siadat, the song is co-written by Maia Davies, David Mohacsi, Thomas "Tawgs" Salter and Jocelyn Alice, and is published by Mother Mother Ship, Universal Music Publishing Canada and Sony / ATV Music Publishing Canada.
SOCAN toasted Mother Mother on the success of “The Drugs,” and of their Canadian tour, and mentioned the fact that it’s the sum of the entire band that brings the song to life, both in in the recording studio and onstage each night.
Mother Mother managers Sarah Fenton and Darren Gilmore, of Watchdog Management, were also at the presentation to cheer on the band.
SOCAN congratulates Mother Mother on their great achievement!
