SOCAN stars shine at 2012 BMI awards

SOCAN members Drake, Clinton Shorter, Andrew Lockington, and Keith Power were among a remarkable list of winners at the 60th annual BMI Pop Awards, held on May 15, 2012, and the BMI Film/TV Awards, held May 17, 2012, both at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Drake was honoured in the Pop Music category for co-writing hit song “What’s My Name” with Ester Dean (BMI) and several other writers from other PROs.
In the Film and TV categories, Clinton Shorter received an award for action film Contraband. Fellow film composer Andrew Lockington was similarly recognized for his work in scoring music for Journey 2: The Mysterious lsland. Keith Power also accepted an award for his outstanding work in scoring music for Hawaii Five-O, along with Brian Tyler (BMI).
