Submissions open for 2017 CCMA Discovery Program
Submissions are now open for The 2017 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Discovery Program. The program was formed to provide Canadian country music artists with career opportunities and build music industry connections.
The 2017 initiative includes the following opportunities:
- Music Industry Discovery Week: The six chosen acts will be flown to Toronto for a week (May 7-12, 2017) to learn, in-depth, about the music business and artist development, including industry-led information sessions, branding and media training, media interviews, and the chance to perform at a private industry showcase.
- Mentorship: The CCMA will pair each of the six finalists with an established Canadian act for mentorship purposes. This connection will be made following Music Industry Discovery Week and prior to Country Music Week 2017 in Saskatoon.
- Country Music Week Discovery Showcase: The three-hour showcase highlights the six finalists during Country Music Week. With full concert production, and backed by a house band, each act will have the opportunity to perform in front of the music industry and fans alike.
- CCMA Discovery Award Winner: One outstanding CCMA Discovery Program finalist will be selected by an industry jury during music week to receive the CCMA Discovery Award at the CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards. In addition, the winner will receive industry-related prizing.
Visit the CCMA website to apply and review eligibility criteria. The submission deadline is Jan. 27, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
