Submissions open for SOCAN Song House at ECMW 2016
Submissions are now open for the SOCAN Song House at East Coast Music Week (ECMW) 2016, scheduled for April 13 and 14, 2016, in Sydney, NS.
Ralph Murphy (renowned songwriter, producer, and author of Murphy’s Law of Songwriting) will lead the two-day interactive workshop. Twelve songwriter participants from Atlantic Canada will be selected to participate, gaining valuable insight into the craft of writing a hit song. This initiative aligns with SOCAN’s A&R strategy to help members improve their songwriting and reach new heights in their careers.
“SOCAN Song House is going to be an exercise in creativity and collaboration, says SOCAN Chief Membership and Business Development Officer, Michael McCarty. “Ralph Murphy is one of the experts in the development of the craft of songwriting and we are proud to foster and encourage this development for our songwriter members.”
Songwriter participants must meet the following criteria:
- The workshop will be best-suited to songwriters in pop and country genres
- Must be SOCAN members and ECMA members based in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, New Brunswick, and/or Prince Edward Island
- Must be attending the ECMW, and be available to participate April 13 and149
- Willing to take their writing craft to the next level
