As part of an ongoing effort to celebrate its members’ achievements in the most striking and visible way possible, SOCAN chose the 2017 FrancoFolies de Montréal festival as a backdrop to present SOCAN No.1 Song Awards to both Andréanne A. Mallette and Laurence Castera during their respective June 12th and 13th performances.

SOCAN A&R Executive Guillaume Moffet was given the pleasant task of surprising both SOCAN singer-songwriters on FrancoFolies de Montréal outdoor stages – with the covert assistance of their management teams – and watching their spontaneous, joyful reactions. The SOCAN No. 1 Song Award presentation to Andréanne A. Mallette was carried on Facebook Live, and can be viewed on the SOCAN Musique Facebook page.

“Fou,” a song co-written by Mallette and Manuel Gasse, reached the peak of the BDS Chart on April 18, 2017, and the top of the Correspondants Chart on May 30, 2017.

“Vertige,” written by Castera and published by Coyote Records, reached the top of the Correspondants Chart on June 6, 2017.

SOCAN congratulates members Andréanne A. Mallette and Laurence Castera for these achievements and, hopefully, many more to come!
