The 28th Montréal SOCAN Awards Gala – held Oct. 16, 2017, at La TOHU – saw many new SOCAN Classic Awards presented to their creators. Among them, three songs co-written and recorded by France D’Amour were honoured. Two, “Ailleurs” and “Animal,” were co-written with SOCAN members Louise Lamarre and Mario Lessard, while “Mon frère” was written alongside Lynda Lemay and Guy Tourville. All three were published by Les Éditions France D’Amour and Les Éditions Tacca enr. (In photo, left to right: Lynda Lemay, France D’Amour, Mario Lessard, Louise Lamarre.)

A SOCAN Classic is a song that has received at least 25,000 radio airplays since it was written, at least 20 years ago.

SOCAN was on the red carpet to capture her reaction, as France D’Amour dsicusses the time and energy invested in writing songs, often in solitude, sometimes with other creators, before they can reach an audience and, maybe one day, become SOCAN Classics. She also tells us why she particularly enjoys the SOCAN Awards Gala.
