Vote now for SOCAN’s PanelPicker idea for South by Southwest 2018 conference

August 10, 2017

Vote now for SOCAN’s PanelPicker idea for the 2018 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference: “Will tech save the music rights industry?” The session will focus on new technologies and innovations designed to improve the business of music rights management. We'll discuss current activities and concrete plans where music rights organizations use new tech to more accurately track the use of music creators’ works, and build new revenue streams for them.

SOCAN Chief Operating Officer Jeff King will participate in the session, as will:

  • Virginie Berger, CEO, ARMONIA ONLINE (a pan-European hub that licenses works for digital music services worldwide), who originated the workshop;
  • Turo Pekari , Senior advisor, innovation and discovery, Teosto (Finnish Composers’ Copyright Society); and
  • Nicolas Roebben, Head of Strategy, SABAM (Belgian Association of Authors, Composers and Publishers).

PanelPicker is the official SXSW user-generated session proposal platform. It's a two-step online process that allows the SXSW community to have a significant voice in programming conference activities (presentations, panels, discussions, demonstrations, etc.) Members of the community enter proposals for daytime conference programming for all SXSW events, and then members of the community browse all of these ideas, leave comments, and vote for what they think are the best ideas. The most popular panels will be held at the 2018 edition of SXSW.
