The Weeknd, has entered the Billboard magazine charts this week at No. 2 with his single “Earned It,” co-written with SOCAN members Stephan Moccio, Belly, and Jason “Da Heala” Quenneville. The song debuted at No. 2 on the R&B Digital Songs chart and No. 15 – a Hot Shot Debut – on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The haunting R&B tune is featured in the much-anticipated movie Fifty Shades of Grey (and on its soundtrack), slated to hit North American theatres on Feb. 13, 2015. “Earned It” reaped 92,000 downloads in the last week of December alone, according to Nielsen Music.

The Weeknd and Moccio are no strangers to high-flying Billboard chart action. The former’s album Kiss Land debuted at No. 2 last year on the Top 200 albums chart, while the latter co-wrote Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball,” which skyrocketed to No. 1 on the 2014 Hot 100 singles chart.

SOCAN congratulates our members on this great achievement!
