As a proud partner of the Rendez-vous Pros des Francos for a sixth consecutive year, SOCAN has renewed its commitment to foster global talent expansion by presenting the third edition of its showcase – this year featuring Alexandre Desilets and the group Paupière, all SOCAN members.

These free, public performances will take place June 15, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Zone Coors Light, at the intersection of de Bleury and Sainte-Catherine streets, during the Rendez-Vous Pros des Francos. The event, organized by Francofolies de Montréal, welcomes more than 150 music and stage industry professionals, and aims to promote exchanges between all Francophone-speaking countries.

With a unique voice that’s as much an instrument as a source of creative inspiration, Alexandre Désilets gently lays his poetry over music in order to bring beauty to darkness. Winner of the SOCAN Prize at Bourse RIDEAU, held in Québec City in February 2016, he secured his spot in the SOCAN showcase at the Rendez-vous Pros des Francofolies.

Paupière is a band – composed of Pierre-Luc Bégin (Polipe, We Are Wolves), Julia Daigle (a visual artist) and Éliane Préfontaine (actress and composer) – that loves to play around with words that are as truthful as they are musical. Their brilliant music is a breath of fresh air that blows on its generation of chanson Francophone, and is inspired as much by peers of the Montréal music scene as by the French synth-pop of the ‘80s.

These performances will be followed by a networking cocktail sponsored by SOCAN for Rendez-vous delegates, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the press room of the Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan.
